We had fun in the sun on both days of our Club Finals Competitions. Thank you to all for coming each day to give your support. Matches started each day at 10.30am and 2.00pm with each finalist feeling proud to have come so far to entre this their special day. Thank you to Gwen, Brenda and Richard for all the hard work in the planning throughout the Competitions. To those members that gave of their time to be “Markers & Scorers.”
The club is very proud to announce the completion of our Pavilion Extension. With the support from Valarie Morgan and her family (Daughter of the late WHBC member and a County of Essex Bowler Alan Bone) along with Brian Littlejohn and Derek Plyford and our members we started the build in April 2017. The total amount required being £45,000. which we raised through Club Events – Southend Carnival – Bowls England Club of The Year 2016 – Drakes Pride – Olympus KeyMed Group – Potters Resort – Waitrose – Oldham’s Fish Restaurant and the kindness of Valarie Morgan we achieved our DREAM!! Thank you all so much.
The Extension now offers our members and more people from our local community the sport of Short-Mat Bowls to be played all year.
June 8th 2017 we had the pleasure to receive BE President Viv Tomlinson’s Team as part of our prize. With a buffet lunch before our game and tea served on The Green followed by a Fish and Chip meal. An historic day to remember making new friendships for a club who beat all other entries in the Country to become Bowls England Club of The Year 2016.

Saturday February 25th 2017 members of the club attended the Bowls England Men’s Dinner at the Coventry Hilton Hotel. This was to receive our winners trophy The Tony Allcock MBE Vase. Drakes Pride presented us with a special award of a Drakes Pride Red Bowl with a Bowls England Jack mounted on a plinth. A box of Drakes Pride/Bowls England Yellow Jacks were also given for when we play The Bowls England Presidents Team at White Hall BC in June. Each member of the club receives a Bowls England Club of The Year badge. A Bowls England 2016 flag to fly from our club flagpole will have pride of place for all to see. WELL DONE TO YOU ALL!!

On 24th October 2016 Bowls England announced that WE have been awarded their highest award as a club who helps others to enjoy the sport of Bowls.

Followed with our coaches and helpers giving of their time in arranging sessions for “A Play Bowls 4 Fun” course on weekdays and a Sunday for those who work.
Bringing A BIG SMILE to our new friends and members with Multiple Sclerosis known as “The Strikers” who now enjoy the sport of Lawn and Short Mat Bowls at our club. 16 signed as members today Sunday 25th September 2016 after finishing their “BDA Play Bowls 4 Fun” programme. A New Pavilion Extension in the pipeline so as to play Short Mat Bowls all year and the building of a Petanque Rink we will bring more people of all abilities into sport. The Olympics and Para Olympics in Rio 2016 have been a fantastic success. We at:-

First time that a Bowls Club has entered into the 50 year old Southend Carnival it had to be WHITE HALL BC. Well done to those that gave of their time in walking the Golden Miles to collect funds towards our Extension.

We made new friends along the route with people wanting to make contact to join our club. From the loose change mainly Coppers we collected £204.45.
Thank you to our friends/members with MS for the loan of your Bradshaw Buggy that I sat in on the truck. (I have Peripheral Vascular Disease) This was to show the crowds that Bowls is “The Sport 4 All.”
